Voice activated switch

The Voice Switch has two primary applications. The first is to provide a switch closure to control assistive technology in response to sound production. The second application is to train sound production capability by persons with speech disabilities. It is expected that this device will be used by persons who have limited ability to produce sounds with the larynx or voice box because of cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury, brainstem stroke, or nerve damage due to injury or surgery.

Included Equipment:
The Voice Switch comes standard with two AA batteries and two cables (one black, one gray) terminated with 1/8-inch mono plugs for interfacing to assistive devices.

The Voice Switch weighs less than a pound and is packaged in a plastic case that measures 4.5 inches x 2.5 inches x .75 inch. All controls are on the front panel, while the input and output ports are located on the top panel. It has a removable belt clip. The Voice Switch is powered by two AA batteries.

Required Equipment: Microphone headset. InvoTek and it's distributors offer the following microphone styles, however any Universal cell phone headset should be compatible with the Voice Switch.

• The ear-bud cell phone microphone (below, left) is inexpensive (suggested retail

  $10) and works great! Use the included microphone clip to eliminate noise generated when the microphone rubs against clothing.

• The throat-microphone (below, right) is a great microphone for the Voice Switch if you can make a humming sound (lip and tongue clicks will not activate the microphone reliably). It is virtually immune to noises in the environment because the sensing surface contacts the throat. You can blast the radio while you reliably access your assistive device with short humming sounds! Also there is no microphone hanging around your face. (Suggested retail $45).
