Edmark Reading Program School (Software Edition) teaches beginning reading and language development to nonreaders and those who have been unsuccessful using other programs.
Edmark Reading Program, Level 1, Software Version
The Level 1 software version teaches 150 words chosen from the Dolch Word List for first-grade readers, as well as "-s," "-ed," and "-ing" endings, capitalization, and punctuation. Students can click on individual words or whole sentences to hear them read aloud. From the beginning, students find success with a process that teaches sight recognition of a word, introduces its meaning, provides comprehension activities, and uses the word in story context.

Edmark Reading Program, Level 2, Software Version
The Edmark Reading Program, Level 2, is an extension of Level 1 for students who have successfully completed Level 1 but are not yet ready for a more traditional reading approach. Level 2 continues to provide students with one-to-one teacher-to-student lessons. Level 2 teaches 200 words including compound words, as well as reviewing and reinforcing words learned in Level 1. Level 2 introduces colorful new graphics and two adolescent characters who are the focus of real-life situation stories. Story Book Lessons include 100 illustrated stories with colorful full-page drawings. Comprehension questions focus students' attention on the meaning within the stories. At ten-word intervals, review and test activities are provided allowing teachers to test student knowledge of learned words. Short instructional steps, repetition, and constant positive reinforcement build self-confidence in the student.
