The Wireless Point-It! is a wireless version of the popular Point-It! joystick. It offers greater flexibility in that it can be mounted permanently to a person’s wheelchair and be used in more than one location, for example at home or in the workplace.
The joystick is battery powered and comes complete with charger and mouse receiver. The mouse receiver connects to the USB port of a computer and is best positioned facing out from the edge of the table. Then, when positioned in front of the computer an invisible link is made between the joystick and the computer.
Three buttons are used to operate mouse functions, left click, right click and mouse speed. The function of the right button can be set to be either right click, double click or drag lock. 3.5mm jack sockets allow connection of standard switches for those who find it difficult to operate the buttons on the unit itself. For people who find it difficult to operate any switches, advanced modes allow all mouse button functions to be accessed by pressing just one switch or by simply “flicking” the joystick.
A special extended version of the Wireless Point-It! can be interfaced to any device that can already be controlled by one or more switches. The joystick movements simply replace the action of pressing switches. This enables a user to have integrated control over both their computer mouse and an external device such as a communication aid or environmental control.
