Typing Made Easy! The New Standard Keyboard is a bold departure from current designs and will compete directly with standard QWERTY models as a replacement keyboard for users who value user-friendliness over arbitrary standardization. The alphabetical layout offers easy learning for touch typists, and user-friendliness for instant typing by beginners. The keys are arranged alphabetically so there is no learning curve for hunt and peck typists as well as senior citizens who have never had a computer because they are challenged by the difficult basic keyboard. The keyboard can be learned at a glance, and differs from other manufacturers attempts at alphabetical-based designs because it is also efficient for high speed typing.

The New Standard Keyboard has several functional and ergonomic advantages over QWERTY keyboards, which Parkinson believes will make it a desired accessory for new system buyers and those wishing to upgrade or update their keyboard. The keyboard has only 53 keys instead of 101 or more, which places them all within easy reach of the home position. It also takes up much less desk space, measuring just 12.5-inches wide x 5 inches deep x 1-inch thick. Aligned with natural finger movements for improved posture, they are in easy reach from home position. For low desks, a unique backward-slope setting keeps wrists straight and relaxed. Only 12.5” long, it is lightweight, portable, USB, and needs no driver. Not yet available for Mac.

The Advantages

International characters
The extra character capacity of the New Standard keyboard means that many non-US characters are already included as key-top characters, such as the Euro € and Yen ¥ in addition to the Dollar $. In many countries the keyboard simply needs to be plugged in. For example, the pound sign £ and the Not sign ¬ used in the UK are not available on other US keyboards, but are included in the New Standard keyboard and labeled on the key-tops. However, for the US and the UK, the positions of " and @ (the quotes and at symbols) are reversed. To ensure these are labeled correctly, select "English (United States)" in your computer's language options.
