Product Information

The latest voice recognition software program on the market! The simplicity and intuitiveness of working with QPointer make this a remarkable program allowing a user to have complete computer control by voice in any application.

Completely hands-free computer control by voice. Intuitive operation of any application by voice and full voice control over the Windows environment.

With QPointer Voice you can create, format, edit and save documents, you can write and send e-mail, surf the Internet entirely by voice. You can manipulate any editable text and dictate into any Windows-based application.

The platform technology in QPointer Voice can be combined with complementary hardware and software to develop leading edge products for a wide variety of applications.

QPointer technology enables identifying each object on the screen. A user can therefore directly "point" at each object by voice, using a minimal vocabulary. QPointer activation is very intuitive and follows the principle "what you see is what you say".

Details
Commodio Inc. has developed an innovative Assistive Technology software which provides freedom in human-computer interaction – direct pointing by means of voice or keyboard.

This is implemented in their QPointer line of products. It is the only system that allows for complete voice control of a computer enabling a hands-free and mouseless operation giving users this latitude with any device, any application, and any environment. The principle is “What You See Is What You Say” – no need to remember voice commands and learn how to speak to different applications. QPointer also provides dictation ability to complete its voice solution.

In addition to voice activation, QPointer offers a ‘silent mode’ – keyboard-only operation of the computer without having to remember long lists of keyboard shortcuts. This ‘silent mode’ of QPointer enhances a regular keyboard to one with capabilities of a direct pointing device, and allows it to bring the cursor directly to any object on a computer screen.

QPointer allows the user to surf the Internet, create and edit documents, work with any application and to operate complicated GUI and the Windows environment – all this in a simple and uniform manner. QPointer allows the user full access and controls of the computer. This method of human-computer interaction does not require any change in user habits.

This software is a novel technology that enhances productivity and usability of any display based device: software that constantly analyzes the content displayed on a screen, and extracts from it all visible objects that appear, such as text, graphics, images and controls. It lets the user point directly at an object on the screen and move the cursor without difficulty from one object to another, hence letting the user think in terms of objects instead of pixels – resulting in a much more user-friendly, intuitive, quick and efficient operation.
QPointer can be used to point at the following screen objects:

Words – in documents, on buttons and icons, basically anywhere on the screen.

Graphics – on icons, links, toolbar elements, etc.

Controls – scrollbar elements, minimize and maximize buttons, etc.

Commodio’s technology edge is the result of its proprietary algorithms that combine interception of system calls and messages with image processing of the screen buffer. The technology offers several advantages over other technologies that deal with screen content, including full-screen content analysis, complete content recognition and the ability to trace changes in content over time. Moreover, Commodio’s definition of screen
objects is flexible and expandable.

Heavy Duty keyboard usersUsers of Laptop PC, Notebooks and Tablets
The usability of embedded pointing devices, such as touch pads, track points and trackballs, is notoriously low. QPointer offers an alternative way of pointing - by keyboard or by voice - which is fast, convenient and reliable.

qPointer ScreenHeavy Keyboard Users
QPointer is useful for heavy keyboard users, such as typists, data-entry personnel or programmers - any data entry person who uses a mouse at least intermittently. It enables computer operation solely by keyboard, without remembering any shortcuts.

Disabled and Senior UsersDisabled and Senior Users
Users with impaired fine motor skills or poor vision, as well as senior users, have difficulty performing precise movements and precise cursor positioning that computer mouse implies. The same is true for users suffering from repetitive stress injury (RSI). QPointer solves these problems by offering voice control, mouseless operation and discrete navigation.

FAQ's

How is QPointer different from Dragon, L&H and ViaVoice?
QPointer is the next evolutionary step in using speech technology to allow us to operate our computer desktops through a blended combination of voice and mouse/keyboard input. These other two products are used only for dictation and web navigation.

Does speech technology work, I have heard about problems with dictation programs?
QPointer is not just a dictation program like Dragon, ViaVoice and L&H.
Our desktop software comes with a wealth of features of which dictation and web navigation are just 2 of those features. We do recommend that you do enough voice training so that QPointer recognizes your voice easily. Dictation does require a lot of system resources and dictation requires practice. This is new and cutting-edge technology that does make mistakes and requires you to repeat things from time to time. Our studies have shown that it takes people time to get use to telling their computers what to do and to learn how to do dictation. After you have used QPointer for awhile, you will wonder how you would ever go back.

Can more than 1 person use QPointer on the computer?
Everyone in your home or office who wishes to read 15-20 minutes of voice training can use QPointer on your computer. The speech recognition system was designed for a variety of different voices and ages.

Can I still use my keyboard and mouse?
Yes, yes, yes. We use a unique blended approach that allows your mouse, keyboard and voice to be used at the same time and in any combination. Why, because we have found that is is not efficient to use your voice 100% of the time and for some tasks it is faster to use your mouse & keyboard while for other tasks, your voice is faster.

How large is the vocabulary?
There is an 80,000 word vocabulary and the number of words that you can add is only limited to the amount of disk space that you have.
