Halloween Costume
Posted October 4, 2011 by txtrulady in Entertainment
I do understand this is a bit early for Halloween but there is a dilema involved here and I need everyone's suggestions. This year, I will be working my usual job as a receptionist/cashier/switchboard operator, etc. at an assisted living facility. Everyone that works that particular day will be dressing up a certain way to celebrate the Halloween costume day. I am uncertain as to how to dress up because there are many elderly people who disapprove of "wacky" and "ghoulish" costumes. Any suggestions would be most appreciated. This year we are concentrating on "lifting spirits" and just having some good time laughter.

Blind Justice
Posted August 30, 2011 by txtrulady in Family & Home
I was watching TV last night and just happened to turn to the OWN network and viewed a story about a man who was a judge in a certain area (did not catch the state). The individual uses all kinds of modern technology that is available to assist him at work in his courtroom. This individual had lost his vision due to macular degeneration in his early 20's but his determination to become a judge did not stop at that point. He continued on to Law school and received his degrees and is now a judge. He uses a seeing eye dog for mobility and is such an inspiration to anyone who has visual impairment or blind. I wanted to share this story to everyone to show once again, "Where there is a will, there is a way".

Always Think Positive

Love this saying:

Do you try to look on the bright side of life?
"Singin' in the Rain" Day
Life can be a bit overcast sometimes, can't it? Well, just like Gene Kelly, who was born on this date in 1912, you, too, can be "Singin' in the Rain." When worrisome clouds gather, try focusing on the positive things in life, like family, friendships, pets, or whatever interests you have that will bring a spark to an otherwise "rainey day.thumbup

No Birds
Posted August 8, 2011 by txtrulady in Family & Home
Every day I venture outside to see if there are any rain clouds in sight and to water the rose bushes and yard on the days required by law in our city. and have recently noticed there are no birds in sight. I do know they were around just a few weeks ago as I always listen to the different birds singing as they are searching for food and water. Lately, there have been no chirping birds and no singing at all. This is very strange for this time of year as its not time for them to fly for the winter season. This really concerns me in part of Texas and I really miss the singing. Where have all the birdies gone????

DO Polls
Posted July 11, 2011 by txtrulady in Entertainment
Has everyone in DO ever done a poll or created one. They are so easy to create and all it takes is a "quick thought" and you've created a poll and they are so enjoyable to read and answer. They are a good past time and actually help all of us get to know one another a little bit better. Its a great way to become involved and join the rest of us in the fun. Why not give it a try and then create a poll of your own. Always remember on this site you are not judged in way way shape or form, so go ahead and TRY IT.
