Apparently, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg feels that adding more wheelchair accessible taxis would, "inconvenience able-bodied passengers."

But he doesn't stop there. He also adds, "If you're in a wheelchair, it's really hard to go out in the street and hail down a cab and get the cab to pull over and get into [it],"

That's right, the mayor of the most populated city in the US actually said this. Does he not realize we come from all walks of life? We are taxpayers, war veterans, retirees, business owners, contributors to the arts, and innovators of science and technology.

We may not all be "able-bodied" but we are "able minded". Deserving of equal rights and equal access. We mustn't let his words go unpunished. If we do, then we prove that his words are true. I don't believe they are true. I know many of you agree.
For a while now Ive been tossing around the idea of starting a travel site for people with disabilities and those close to us. I feel like getting out and enjoying exciting adventures and vacations is something we all enjoy. Id like to combine my entrepreneurial dream with my desire to get out, travel and enjoy adventures in the real world. I know there are a lot of travel resources for PWD and those close to us so I figured id seek some guidance from yall as to how I can build a website that will stand out with the content it has and the resources it provides. Basically I wanna know what yall want/need in a travel oriented website that you arent already getting. How can I create a website to better meet PWD needs? Please help me follow my passion thanks

Let's chat about great service! Over time, I have slowly found some places are better than others when it comes to good service for disabled folks! Red Lobster is very good about making special dishes for me, I can only use my right hand. If asked they will serve the Lobster out of the shell, and serve a more "chopped" salad so it's easier to eat without have someone at my table cut it for me. Any one else have good service experiences to share? Let's chat!

At 23 yo Im searching for what I feel many people my age are at this stage in life my calling. For a few yrs now the only thing Ive really been interested in career wise is being an Entrepreneur. I love the idea of working for myself and bringing my vision to life to make a positive impact on this world. Ive done a ton of research about being an entrepreneur and what it takes to be successful and 2 of the biggest things that determine any businesses success are serving a need or solving some type issue that exists for people and having a proper revenue model. Ill use this website as an example, Do gives PWDS and those close to us a place to make friends, find info and equipment. This is a clear need and it serves this need well. It makes revenue through things such as ads and product sales. Just to keep things simple ill just classify the business I wanna start as a travel related website for PWDS and those close to us. I have CP and I wanna see the world, everyone regardless of ability loves to travel so this seems like a great idea. However I find myself wondering over and over again about those two basic questions. Does my idea serve a need or solve some type of issue that exists for people and is their a way to profit from this idea? This is important to know because every business needs to accomplish these two things. Ill use DO as an example again if it didn't serve a need or solve an issue no one would use it and if it wasn't making money it wouldn't be successful a site needs money to run and people need income to live. Anyway Id be grateful for any and all feed back so please leave comments and help me clarify my calling thanks.
