Disabled Online Our Mission & History
Disabled Online was developed by Jay Cohen. Despite not having the ability to operate a keyboard, due to muscular dystrophy, Jay was able to launch the website in March of 2004, thanks to the use of voice recognition software. Disabled Online originally started as a web link directory & message board, for people with disabilities.
Since it's launch, Disabled Online has grown into a premier website for people with disabilities. Now offering a social networking community, that includes forüms, blogs, chat rooms, polls, quizzes, videos, etc. plus, the web link directory has grown to list over 2000 sites that provide services & assistance for people with disabilities. Not only that, but the Disabled Online assistive technology store sells software and adaptive hardware devices, specifically geared for people with physical and/or learning challenges.
Disabled Onlines' mission is to continue to provide the tools and resources necessary to enhance the abilities of our community. We have grown substantially, thanks to our loyal members who help make Disabled Online a top destination on the World Wide Web.
