I was taught growing up that cussing was bad, for as long as I've known my parents they hardly cussed and If they did I pointed it out and was complemented on catching them. After all there trying to set me right so who was going to set them right when they swore?? I remember a few times dad swore and watching him swear I could see that It wasn't In him to do so, It was more of a fitting in among his friends I guess. Mom was a little more strict with swearing she just totally disapproved of such lanugage Instead she would swear In a way she though was kosher. She would say things like Gosh hang It, which I found funny untill I realized what it ment.

Over the years I noticed they couldn't bite there tongues like they did when I was young, was it that I was old enuff to swear on my own?? I remember one time I caught my moms ears when I buried a #11 X-Acto blade into my thumb while working on a model, soon as I said It I realized I was In trouble, (use your imagination) She quickly said what did you say as I heard her running towards the kitchen only to see me bleeding all over with a hobby knife hanging out of my thumb. She quickly forgot about what i said and told me to pull the knife out of my thumb and helped me to clean up my mess and fetched me what i needed to fix my thumb. After my thumb was take care of she said she forgave me for swearing as what had happened to me must have really hurt, she then told me next time to bite my tongue or try and focus on saying something else. It worked for awhile till I became a Volunteer Fire fighter, then it was like a no hold bars free for all. I quickly found out firefighters can and will be some of the biggest potty mouths there are, even more so then sailers or anyone in the Navy as we have had numerous guys that where in the service.

I still find it hard to not cuss, even around my son and he's at that age where one has to be careful, I can't count how many times he caught me off guard and even told his mom. But I have no worries there because she doesn't leave much room for improvement, I just can't believe how much she does swear and even more so around my son. I've told her to watch her mouth around him, but she doesn't care every other word out of it is a classic. I'm just glad I don't have to listen to it any more.
