Now, age and the aftereffects of these accidents are catching up to me and profoundly affecting my mobility. I have always been vigorously physical and worked outdoors most of my life so my inability to keep up with my wife, family, friends, and associates is humiliating and frustrating to me. I now will probably need a rolling walker if I need to traverse any significant distances on foot. We need to sell our 2 story home because I'm unable to get up and down the stairs safely anymore. I HATE asking for help because I've always been the one doing the helping and now the roles are reversed. If I'm correct, you've lost a LOT which you will never get back. Some how, some way you will come to adapting, accepting, and overcoming. Find local support and fellowship groups that share a similar disability and get involved. There's light at the end of the tunnel. whatever you do, do NOT isolate yourself because that is deadly.
