Do's and don'ts for Disabled Online members
From everyone in our community, we encourage -- and in some instances require -- the following:
Do:
- Select an appropriate member name
- Conquer your fear of posting
- Welcome newcomers
- Feel free to be a wallflower
- Discover the knowledge of fellow members
- Report problems promptly
Don't:
- post personal information
- use profanity or inappropriate language
- post duplicate messages
- post commercial items unless in designated area
- post others' copyrighted information
Selecting your member name
Choose a member name that is in good taste - one that is creative and fun, but not vulgar, obscene or misrepresents you to our other members. If you have selected a member name that is already taken or one we deem inappropriate, we will reject your choice and ask you to make another selection.
Conquering your fear to post
If you are new to our community, taking the step for the first time to post publicly to a message board or to join in live chat can seem intimidating. We understand the Internet can be an overwhelming and scary place, especially for newcomers. We have a very supportive community that serves up heavy doses of support, encouragement and enthusiasm. We love meeting new people and making new friends.
Welcome new members
When new members join in the conversation, be sure to say "hi" and welcome them to our growing community. Many of our community's "regulars" have a wealth of knowledge and have much to share. Help new folks learn the ropes about how to find information and resources, save time and get involved.
Feel free to be a wallflower
While we hope you'll become an active participant and join in our discussions, you are welcome to simply hang out silently until you feel comfortable posting a message or joining in a chat. When perusing message boards or attending live group meetings, it's OK to do so silently.
Share in the knowledge of fellow members
Whether you're looking for answers to help you in your daily living, or perhaps money and benefits is of interest, a wealth of knowledge exists within our membership, so come on in! The
Disabled Online Community is your place to get the answers you need and talk about the things that interest you most.
To report a problem
If you come across any of the above listed violations or have any problems navigating the site, do not hesitate to let us know at
Contact Us prior to transmission, nor can we ensure prompt removal of offending message board posts. We also reserve the right to remove Disabled Online membership should you violate this agreement or any of our
Terms and Conditions. If you haven't read the
Terms and Conditions, please do so now.
